Food is always top notch and the last time I went was maybe in 2010-2011. We went back in November 2025.Nothing has changed which is why it is so charming. The wait can be a bit long so make a reservation. I recommend the Steak Fritas with delicious French fries 🍟, escargo and bread pudding desert. Small, busy, authentic and some French bread 🥖 do die for!!!
Someone recommended Bistrot Du Coin and I have to say we were not disappointed. Best meal we had in DC. The menu is both extensive and classic French bistro fare. We had escargots, mussels, and pate to start. My friends had the bouef bourguinon and steaks frites, while I had the cassoulet. They were all delicious. Ended the meal with the tarte tartine and mont blanc. We will definitely be back.

A very nice overall experience at this restaurant. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was very typic of a French bistro. Nice decor and a large menu. The food was delicious across the board. I especially enjoyed the cassoulet, which was rich, comforting, and well prepared. My companions ordered the steak and the French onion soup, and both dishes were very good and nicely executed. While the prices felt a bit on the high side, that’s fairly typical for DC, and the quality and experience helped justify the cost.
The most authentic French restaurant in Washington, DC. Great hospitality, outstanding food and great drinks. We ordered steak au poivre, and it was just like the one I ate in Lyon, France. I definitely recommend it!
Bistro du Coin delivered exactly the kind of cozy, no-nonsense French experience you hope for. I ordered the duck confit with lentils, and it was outstanding - the duck was perfectly crisp on the outside, tender and rich inside, and the lentils added a hearty, earthy balance that tied everything together. The whole dish felt comforting without being heavy, like something straight out of a Parisian neighborhood bistro. The atmosphere matched the food—lively, a little bustling, and full of charm. Definitely a spot I’d come back to when I’m craving classic French done right. 🇫🇷✨
This is your Julia Child moment to experience the intoxicating flavors of French cuisine unabashedly smothered in butter and garlic with an endless supply of crusty baguette. Our table of four ladies celebrating a bachelorette included 2 from Los Angeles, 1 from Washington State and a local (the bride to be). One vegetarian. We especially enjoyed the mussels and escargot &- endless bread dipping. Save some room for out of this world desserts - I had the chocolate mousse and had a savory moment of exultation. It was a Saturday night, it was packed, on the louder side making the venue feel very alive. I saw a cross section of folks, old and young alike. Our reservation was 8 p.m. Coming from Los Angeles I found the cost very reasonable for the quality of fare. Adding liquor and steaks will certainly elevate your $$$. Eh, that's life! 6 for dinner at 8:30 Friday. Place was packed. Really loud! Not.my vibe and hard to talk with just 6. The food was really good. Had the best mushroom voulete ever! Generous bread and butter service. Known for mussels. They were good...maybe great...but not a muscle person. My rating on service is because app/ first course dishes werent cleared before second/ main. I had the mini ravioli in cheese sauce. So yummy. A steak special was cooked properly and well seasoned. Trout and duck confit were also lovely.
Bistro Du Coin was the perfect spot for a relaxed late weekend lunch with my wife. We enjoyed the French onion soup which was rich and comforting and paired it with a smaller carafe of wine that felt just right for the afternoon. The atmosphere was warm and inviting without feeling rushed which made it easy to linger and enjoy the experience. Everything came together nicely from the food to the pace of the meal and we would happily eat there again.
An awesome experience. It felt like I was in France. The service was great! 4 or 5 employees helped us out while we were there. The owner/chef said “hello” and everyone made us feel at home. A really cool environment with lots of stuff to see and made it all very welcoming.
